So you’ve got a friend or family member who just had a baby and became a new mom, and you want to do something nice for them…but you’re not sure what. Often times they already have everything they need for baby (diapers, swaddles, and blankets galore!) BUT! There are items for mom that can help make life easier and/or more enjoyable in those first few weeks and months. After all, they’ve just gone through a major life event. They’re sleep deprived, they may be physically recovering for several weeks, and there’s just a lot going on. Simply acknowledging that can go a long way! If you also want to send a gift or two over to spoil her – we have a feeling you’ll go straight to the top of her favorites list.
Below we’ve rounded up some (non-sponsored) suggestions on gifts that you can send to new mamas after they give birth. Let us know below if you have anything to add!
Nursing Friendly Clothing – Pajamas, Robe, Tanks, Sweaters
(If they’re nursing or pumping)
- Soma Chemise – Soft, breathable night gown (new moms often times suffer from night sweats due to a change in hormones, so this is a great option. It’s also meant for nursing moms specifically)
- Robe – We don’t have enough great things to say about this robe. It’s perfect for the hospital, nursing, and it’s just a beautiful/comfortable robe even if you didn’t just have a baby. It’s on sale for $35 right now, they have navy and black options
- Target Pajama Set – Super soft, the buttons make this very nursing friendly
- This nursing tank or this nursing tank (honestly, any nursing tank is great)
- Pullover nursing hoodie
- Long sleeve maternity & nursing top
- This nursing hoodie has good reviews on Amazon – will need a nursing tank under it
Meals – Coordinate with dad and send a meal delivery kit/service to cover them for a couple of weeks. There are a lot of options here. Make sure to select one that comes with already prepared freezer friendly meals (not meals they would have to assemble and cook.) That way- they don’t have to do extra work and they can freeze it if they aren’t ready for it when it’s sent
A nice candle – We love Anthropologie Capri Blue Volcano (who doesn’t?)
A 60 minute massage gift card for when she’s ready (make sure it doesn’t expire for a very long time)
A mani-pedi gift card (May also be nice if you offer to come along to the appointment with her and the baby – that way you can hold the baby while she gets her nails done. Some moms may have anxiety about leaving the little one – so this makes it easy for her to be with him or her and be pampered at the same time!)
